The Crosby show
The first place I had ever heard of Sidney Crosby was at his fellow Maritimer's now-dormant blog The Net Files. Last week, I read at Off Wing Opinion that the hockey phenom's trying to get out of his current contract to maybe play in Europe.
Then, this week, when I ventured over to Maclean's to check out its coverage of the battle in Canada's parliament after reading one of Mark Steyn's opinion pieces, I stumbled upon this: Can Sidney Crosby save the NHL?
"I like the idea of not having a red line," he says ... "The good thing is that everyone's still trying to learn and find ways to make the game better. Hopefully, eventually, it'll open up a bit more. If it doesn't, I've got to find a way to adapt." ...
Bill Beaney, a coach at Middlebury College in Vermont and a leading advocate in the U.S. for cleaner, more wide-open hockey, is ... pessimistic. "I think when he's judged against his contemporaries, Sidney Crosby's going to come out with flying colours," he says. "It's just a shame he won't be able to give us as many of those Guy Lafleur-type moments as he might if the game was allowed to proceed the way most fans would like."

Really? All this time I thought he was from your neck of the woods. I'll have to update it.

Pssst... he's actually from Nova Scotia. Dartmouth or Cole Harbour depending on who you ask.
The Net Files may return once I have the time, interest and hockey worth following.
