BcS officials unveil plan to level
playing field for national title race
MIAMI (AP)—In another attempt to improve the Bowl championship Series, officials announced Wednesday morning that the 2006 national championship game will take place in Norman, Okla., pitting the team that finishes atop the BcS standings at the conclusion of the regular season against the Oklahoma Sooners.
When asked by reporters whether a more impartial method would be a playoff system — or even a simple pairing of the nation’s two best teams — BcS Chairman and Big 12 Conference Commissioner Kevin Weiberg insisted today’s announcement will provide the true champion both administrators and fans have been seeking.
“We believe our new system will give OU Head Coach Bob Stoops, his staff and his players a better opportunity to demonstrate the indisputable superiority of Big 12 football and, more specifically, OU football,” Weiberg said. “In the preceding two seasons, we’ve desperately tried to give the University of Oklahoma the national championship we’re convinced is rightfully theirs, but these efforts have failed.
“We feel confident these newest changes will bring us closer to our goal.”
Reporters then questioned whether it would be simpler and would give athletes more time to devote toward their studies if the BCS would just declare Oklahoma the national champion prior to the start of each season and eliminate any postseason play in college football.
Weiberg labeled the idea “ludicrous,” stating that it would rob the Big 12 Conference of the bowl earnings it so richly deserves.
The game, which officials say will be known as either the Dust Bowl or the Surrey with a Fringe on Top Bowl, will be played two weeks after the last of the other bowls takes place, when performances in the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Fiesta Bowls are only distant memories.

Thanks, guys:
As a Michigan fan, I'd like to thank OU for taking the maroon-and-gold bullet that in pre-BCS days would have drilled the Maize and Blue right between the maize and the blue.
If only we could have drawn Cal in the Rose Bowl...

Came across this link via Green Gourd's Garden, and how ironic! Another poop reference!
Although it pains me to see a big steaming pile of poop desecrating the Sooners logo. But hey, after OU's performance, I can definitely see the resemblance to the "#2" reference!

Auburn fans have spent the last two months hearing Sooner fans "explain" to us how unworthy we are, so you'll have to forgive us if we have our fun this week. :-)

Oof, that's cold! Oh, and I've reported you to the Anti Okie-Defamation League. Be prepared for a visit from a couple of corn-fed, linebacker-type farm boys, ok? :-)
