Hard-fighting soldiers
If you're a serious college football fan and you have the patience to follow a couple of instructions, you might enjoy this footage of a locker-room tradition among Auburn football players following a victory. You'll need to (1) sit through the initial 23-second commercial and then (2) fast-forward to somewhere between the 1:30 and 2:07 mark to see the 2004 team celebrate their SEC West-clinching win vs. Ole Miss on Saturday.
It's tradition to sing the AU fight song, "War Eagle," but these players have added another song, "Hard-Fighting Soldier," something they reportedly sing at Fellowship of Christian Athletes meetings.
UPDATE: A simpler, shorter video of the players singing both songs can be found here.
Along with a sence of pride, chills went up and down my spine when I read the Opelika-Auburn News FAITH article concerning Auburn's football team singing of the Hard Fighting Soldier. I really feel that their faith has brought them together as a complete team. It also made me realize this team is about more than just winning a football game or a national championship, but winning a place in their future lives and dwelling place. I pray that God will continue to bless their lives.
